Sirron was already in the courtyard of Palazzo Pretorio. He had his hands behind his back and he was looking down, concentrating. He was nervous and excited at the same time, waiting for his bride Melissa.  She arrived and one of her three little children took a snap shot of her. The father of the bride was next to her, arm in arm. Everything was finally ready. The courtyard was full of friends and family, some sitting, some standing. The music announced the arrival of the bride.  Sirron turned to see her walking towards him. A simile came across his face and his eyes teared up. Finally, the bride and groom meet, standing next to each other, listening to the celebrant. The words are always similar but each time they are still filled with emotion. The bride similes and is sure of what she is doing – after all, even though she is only 25 years old, she is mother of three splendid children. After the pronouncement and the exchanging of rings, they have a moment of acknowledgement and then kiss passionately.  A thundering of applause fills the palace. The signatures then the congratulations by the mayor. Group photos then everyone went outside to line the antique stairs where they threw confetti on the newlyweds.  Afterwards the couple came with me for some photos along the tiny roads of Certaldo. It is a beautiful Tuscan village – red brick walls, colourful doors, flower filled window boxes, and beautiful views.

The couple couldn’t wait to get back to the villa Tenuta di Sticciano to celebrate their happy day with their families so since we arrived early, we took some photos along the olive tree lined road and the fantastic gardens of the villa.  Melissa and Sirron are such a lovely couple – so in love – so every photo shined with emotion. Not all grooms participate so freely in photo shoots, but Sirron’s happiness made this time fun and special. The party finally began with the aperitifs served on the lawn. Some drank, some played and beautiful guitar music and singing filled the air. It was a joyful atmosphere even though it was an intimate affair with only about 25 guests.  As the sun went down, children were dancing barefoot on the lawn making for amazing photos.  The last group photos were taken and everyone moved inside the villa to watch the newlyweds dance their first dance. It was a wonderful wedding where Melissa, Sirron and their guests all made me feel a real part of their event, allowing me to capture the emotions and the important moments of their big day.
