Getting married in Tuscany

Tuscany is among the most sought-after Italian regions for destination weddings. Just think of the city of Florence whose natural and architectural beauty attracts thousands of foreign couples for their weddings. The Chianti area is undoubtedly another valued area. For the many couples coming especially from northern Europe, the opportunity to get married amongst the Tuscan hills with their amazing sunset among the vineyards, is a true life-long dream. San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Monteriggioni, you name it! The Chianti region is full of places where civil and religious weddings can be held. Foreign couples don’t always want their ceremony to be legally-binding. More often than not, they wish to celebrate the event with their families and friends in one of the many Tuscan villas dotting the countryside, with a priest holding the symbolic ceremony, maybe someone the couple has known forever and has accepted to follow them in their Tuscan dream. Very often, the guests participating live in different countries or continents, and the event of two hearts joining together is a great opportunity to meet again in Tuscany.

As a Tuscan Wedding photographer I have often captured the celebration of weddings in a vineyard or a cool forest. Getting married in Tuscany is choosing a land that is unique in the world, an opportunity known and desired by many couples. Tuscany is not only the land of rolling hills and vineyards: many weddings are celebrated on the beaches in the south of the region, in the Tuscan Maremma, where the purest nature is the protagonist. Some couples even choose deconsecrated churches for their symbolic wedding, some are smaller and hidden on the premises of the villas they rent for their Tuscan holiday. Some others, such as the Abbey of San Galgano, are much more visible and need to be booked well in advance. Tuscany offers a variety of landscapes like no other Italian region. Covering a few hundreds of square kilometers, it showcases sceneries that are completely different. If you rent a car and travel it from north to south, you will find the large beaches of the Versilia area, with the luxury villas and hotels for wealthier weddings, the snowy mountains of the Alpi Apuane; and then lakes, rolling hills, and wonderful rivers. If you are looking for a venue off the beaten track, Tuscany will surely surprise you with the perfect villa, castle, church, vineyard to celebrate your Tuscan wedding.
