Destination Wedding Photographer in Tuscany

I’m a Destination Wedding Photographer Born and Raised in Florence

I became a photographer twenty years ago even if I got my first camera at the age of 11. I have created photo reportages all over the world, from California to Indonesia. I’ve been working in Tuscany for over 15 years and I believe that knowing both Florence and my region very well is a primary requirement if you want to take beautiful photos, especially for wedding. Tuscany is undoubtedly one of the most attractive regions of Italy, with unique landscapes, characterized by unmistakable colors and lights. Tuscany, although relatively small, it is characterized by a very various and often difficult to navigate territory. This is one of the reasons why I always recommend choosing a professional destination wedding photographer in Tuscany, who knows this territory well, where the white roads are often narrow and tortuous, and it is easy to get lost.

The light you will find in Tuscany in Summer is beautiful,
but at the same time very intense and difficult to manage for a photographer who does not know it!

Your destination wedding in Tuscany will be a unique, unrepeatable event, hence you deserve the best: the only choice is to rely on a local professional photographer, specialized in weddings. Investing time and money for your wedding in Tuscany and having it photographed by a person without the appropriate skills, means risking to compromise the memories of the most important day of your life. The two main aspects that characterize my wedding photography are a long experience and a professional approach to the event: I describe my style contemporary, which represents the right compromise between a pure reportage and posed photography.

This translates into a shot guided only in specific moments of the wedding, where the couple or guests really need to know what to do and how: small directions to optimize times (precious during a wedding!) and to help a just a little bit, without forcing anyone into unnatural poses. For the rest, my photography is based on observing and shooting, with particular attention to capture the emotions, both of the couple and of guests and relatives. I love to establish the right feeling with the couple, who are often worried about the photo shoot. To me, this aspect is crucial for the success of the photo service and, above all, it allows to work in a way that doesn’t cause any stress to the couple.

Venue and Location for your Wedding in Tuscany

Speaking of venues, I love shooting my weddings at Villa il Salviatino, a luxury hotel very close to the city of Florence, located in the municipality of Fiesole. Positioned on top of a hill, it has an incredible garden that offers a beautiful view over the city. It’s fantastic for an outdoor wedding or for a wedding reception after a civil ceremony in Florence (which is only twenty minutes by car from Il Salviatino). A completely different style venue is represented by the Castello del Trebbio, a building dating back to 12th century and perfectly preserved. Ideal for small intimate weddings, its court allows to carry out symbolic ceremonies in a quaint atmosphere. Its large wooden door followed by an iron gate perfectly frame the bride’s entrance and the ceremony itself. The castle is surrounded by vineyards that slope down towards the valley, offering unique cues for couple photos. Another venue where I love to work is the Castello di Vicchiomaggio. Located in the heart of Chianti, ten minutes away from Greve in Chianti, it’s nested on a hill between vineyards. It can be an ideal place for your destination wedding in Tuscany since it offers the possibility to get married even with a religious ceremony: the castle has in fact a small church, right in front of the main entrance. Thanks to the breathtaking views, taking photos of the couple in Vicchiomaggio is just amazing.

Another favorite location of mine is definitely Certaldo Alto: the small village is characterized by narrow and winding alleys, perfect for romantic couple photos. It’s possible to hold a civil ceremony at Palazzo Pretorio, precisely in its courtyard: an intimate environment, characterized by the presence of a well, where sunlight penetrates bouncing on the frescoed walls. Definitely a  unique place for your civil wedding ceremony in Tuscany.

My Photo Services for Your Destination Wedding in Florence and Tuscany

As a professional photographer for weddings in Tuscany, I often work with foreign couples who come to Italy to get married. I shoot many symbolic ceremonies, from weddings to vow renewals. Some couples get married in their country of origin and then, after many years, they come here in Tuscany for a vow renewal. Most of these ceremonies take place outdoors, almost always in private villa gardens. I prefer this kind of ceremonies because there is the possibility to capture the colors of the surrounding environment, and above all, the possibility of working with natural light. There are several structures that allow you to organize a civil ceremony in their parks and gardens, just like a symbolic wedding but with full legal value. In this way the couple is not forced to get married in a city hall and can take advantage of the beauty of the Tuscan landscapes for the ceremony.

Of course, many couples choose a wedding religious ceremony and Tuscany offers many beautiful churches too. I often shoot romantic religious ceremonies in beautiful places such as Pieve di Spaltenna, Gaiole in Chianti, or in the heart of the city of Florence (at the Ognissanti church just to mention one of my favorites).

But my work as a destination wedding photographer is not limited to weddings

There are many other complementary services just as important: an engagement session is the service that, especially for American couples, formalizes their marriage, which will not necessary take place in Italy. These smaller couple services almost always take place in the city of Florence and I love to shoot them because they allow me to express all my creativity, without limits of time as often happens during a wedding. Another couple’s service is the wedding proposal, a true declaration of love that requires a lot of attention and experience from those who take pictures: she does not know what is going to happen and the photographer has to work “behind the scenes” until the big moment, when he makes the declaration and gives the ring!
